Rules: The car/truck had to be sold brand new in 1967
I would buy a 67 Firebird. I have always been a sucker for the Firebirds and the 67 is the first year. I can’t think of anything better than a 67 four speed convertible with a 400 roaring down the road.
What would you buy Oppo?

It’s not a sedan.

Sunbeam Tiger, in British Racing Green, naturally.

Not sure if I’d go for the 427 Tripower or the one with the aluminum 427 block.

MK2 Jag
Possibly in Touring car guise.

2000gt in any color or SS/RS especially in white.

I’d get a Shelby Mustang of some sort.

Cougar XR7, no question Jim

Wait, so just for clarification, you are now me and I am now you?
![]() 03/23/2016 at 10:50 |

Since someone already put Mercury on the list, this:
a Mk1 Lotus Cortina.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 10:50 |
|
I think maybe.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 10:50 |
|
I’d have to go with a 67' Camaro SS, pure american muscle.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 10:51 |
|
No aluminum block in ‘67. L89 was top dog- 427/435 with aluminum heads.
Good pick though, I’m right there with you.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 10:52 |
|
So many to choose from, but I think I’d ultimately like this one... or 5 others.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 10:58 |

My dad had a 1968, but this would do given the question.
427 Fairlane, two door sedan body with the 4 speed.

67 Mercury Comet Cyclone GT. Stacked headlights and dual scoops
![]() 03/23/2016 at 11:01 |

The 2000GT or a Cosmo would be my picks.

I forgot the designation. This is the one that was listed at 425 horsepower instead of 435 but *wink* if you were racing that is what you bought?
![]() 03/23/2016 at 11:08 |
|
I would pretty much buy all the cars in 1967. It’s probably my favorite year for the automobile. But yes, this would be the first...
![]() 03/23/2016 at 11:10 |
|
Last year for the 425 hp was ‘66.
I messed up.
If you were racing, the L88 and L89 were probably your best bet, they were 427/430s which was underrated. No tripower, single Holley.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 11:11 |
|
The car would be a Biscayne with the 427/4 speed.
The truck would be a Super Wagoneer.

67 Galaxie 500XL SOHC 427
Chevelle SS 427
![]() 03/23/2016 at 11:15 |

It would have to be a GTO - with the 389 Tri Power.

The car I DID buy in 1967

Can’t believe no one has suggested this yet:Rallye 1.3 HF with 101hp.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 11:38 |

I’m with you on the Pontiac Firebird Convertible. Make mine a 400 with the four speed too.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 11:40 |

In the end, there can be only one.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 12:09 |
|
The one in the back, obviously, because heritage.
OR:
![]() 03/23/2016 at 12:21 |
|
either the firebird hard top or a fastback formula S barracuda
![]() 03/23/2016 at 12:48 |
|
This is a really hard year, I am stuck between these two:
1967 Aston Martin DBS
1967 Toyota 2000GT
I mean I would love some american muscle from this year, but look at these two. I just can not not chose one of them.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 13:04 |

1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4. Sold for like 27millon list year.

2 door hard top coupe thank you very much
![]() 03/23/2016 at 13:30 |

I don’t think you know how hard it was to not answer Cougar.
God I love the First Gen Cougar
![]() 03/23/2016 at 13:33 |

My dad placed his order for a 2 door fastback and the order got screwed up and a sedan body was delivered instead. What I would give to have the car today (car was wrecked in 69 by the second owner).
![]() 03/23/2016 at 13:35 |
|
what I’m saying is that it’s a hard top coupe not a sedan, the sedan was a 4 door, the above is a 2 door hard top.
The variants back then were endless, but they didn’t make 2 door sedans.
![]() 03/23/2016 at 13:40 |
|
According to my dad who placed the order, two door sedan body was the delivery type.
Chevy never offered them, but Dodge and Ford used Sedan Body styling with two and four door options.

I would like to disagree. I’ll do some more research and happily admit fault if I am incorrect.
I’ll get back to you

Aston is so much prettier
![]() 03/23/2016 at 14:49 |

I thought about this for a second before picking the Firebird

Very nice choice. I love the first gen Cougar
![]() 03/23/2016 at 14:58 |

It was very hard not to pick that
![]() 03/23/2016 at 14:58 |

Personally I think so, AND you could buy 18 AM for 1 Toyota.
2000GT = $1.3 mill
DBS = $72,000

I am such a sucker for a Lincoln
![]() 03/23/2016 at 15:04 |

I love this body style. Can’t believe you picked it over the Eldo though
![]() 03/23/2016 at 15:05 |

And as usual- not given nearly enough respect!
![]() 03/23/2016 at 15:05 |

Not a sedan and not German I am both impressed and surprised. But you picked a good choice I almost picked this myself
![]() 03/23/2016 at 15:06 |

What a tough problem to have to pick between the two
![]() 03/23/2016 at 15:07 |
|
Of course

I’ll throw another one in there. Growing up my dad had an old beater dodge d200. 383 v8 and I’m guessing someone converted it to 4x4 because I saw the d series weren’t offered with a 4x4. It was a cool truck. It was on 37 in tires and in this awesome electric blue. That would be a cool truck to buy brand new. Not mine but very similar
![]() 03/23/2016 at 16:54 |

Old trucks just looked great. The styling was just more honest.

A 1967 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser for family hauling duties.
A 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider for fun.

I love the front end of this generation of Oldsmobile
